Cheryl Dyson, MBA, MEd , B.Com., CPA

Cheryl has a passion for teaching and finds it very rewarding working with students. She started teaching at Centennial College in May of 2018 and she is excited to be here. Before teaching at Centennial College, Cheryl taught at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) for approximately sixteen years. While she was teaching at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), she was the Accounting Coordinator for approximately six years. In 2002, Cheryl was honored with the “Teacher of the Year” award for Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) Continuing Education. In addition to teaching at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), Cheryl has also done some corporate training at Air Transat and she has taught at York University, UOIT, Durham College, and George Brown College. In 2008 Cheryl also received the “Top 20 Teachers” Award” from George Brown College.

Cheryl received her Masters of Business Administration from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh Business School in 2012. In 2003 she received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. She also received her Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting Major) from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 1997. After graduating, she worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the auditing and tax department for approximately five years. During this period, Cheryl obtained her Chartered Accountancy designation, now known as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). She went on to work in the industry as an Internal Audit Manager for AGF Management Limited.

Over the past several years Cheryl has served on a number of boards including Forward 9 Housing Co-op, Durham Deaf Association, Yeah Foundation, United Employee Credit Union and she now serves and is the Treasurer for Ajax Skating Club. Cheryl enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, swimming, and going to the gym. She has fond memories of her zip line experience in the mountains of Costa Rica. She also enjoyed backpacking through Thailand, Vietnam and Europe. Cheryl likes to go snorkeling in the Caribbean. She has admired sea turtles, an octopus, and beautiful fish.
