Description | This course is designed to give a fundamental back ground of a heavy duty diesel engine. Students will be taught the different parts of the diesel engine and just how the diesel engine works to covert heat energy into mechanical energy; they will develop an understanding of the principle and purpose of each component such as the cylinder Block and Cylinder head, the Piston and Connecting rod and the Crank and Cam shaft. They will discuss the different moving components in the engine and how linear force from the piston is converted to the needed rotating motion that moves the vehicle. Students will develop an understanding of the maintenance procedure of a diesel engine and the reason why proper service procedure is vital for the engine’s life. |
