| Description | This course will enable the student to complete a holistic nursing assessment with special emphasis on the changes that occur with the aging process, and on transcultural variances within a diverse cultural population. A nursing assessment includes both physical and psychosocial aspects to enable evaluation of a client’s condition. Physical aspects will include the development of a head to toe physical examination. Selected techniques such as observation, inspection, percussion, light palpation and auscultation will be a focus. Examples of the psychosocial aspects to be covered in the course include interviewing the client for demographic information, reason for seeking health care, perception of health and past health history of the individual client and family. |
