Description | Technicians will find this 18-hour course helpful when servicing diesel engines either to maintain emission standard compliancy or to correct failed engines. Topics include failure analysis of fuel and engine system components, smoke analysis, fuels, fuel additives, air fuel ratio controls, governors, tampering and servicing of specialized emission control systems. Emphasis is placed on techniques for diagnosing failures in cylinder components, air induction systems, turbochargers, injectors, injection pumps and engine electronic control systems. A review of with the Ontario Heavy-Duty Emission Testing program and the J-1667 throttle snap test procedure is also included. Note: Safety boots and safety goggles must be worn in the lab areas. You will be denied access to labs if you are dressed inappropriately.
