| Description | This concentrated theory and practical skills update and review will help ambulance and emergency care graduates prepare for the Advanced EMCA examinations, renew their knowledge base or prepare for higher level training. Sessions include theoretical and practical applications and objective testing. Principles of physiology, pathophysiology and behavioural science, emergency patient care, and legal implications in the practice field will be integrated. Patient care learning situations will focus on head and spinal injuries, heart and respiratory emergencies, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, fractures and thoracic trauma, shock, burns, diabetes, drowning, acute abdomen suicide and overdose, emergency childbirth, symptom relief protocol and semi-automatic defibrillation protocols.
