Description | This course focuses on the value and importance of effective communication, interpersonal skills, and developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with members of the inter-professional care team. Cultural values/beliefs and practices will be examined. Problem-solving and effective processes of conflict resolution will be explored and practiced. During this phase of the course, the new concept of “intra-professional collaboration” will be introduced and incorporated in team development and team work. Students will also begin to learn, explore, and practice various methods of documentation. Learning activities include a combination of experiential approaches to enhance knowledge and skills to support success. This course will explore the appropriate reporting actions the Personal Support Worker should take if abuse is witnessed, suspected or experienced. Abuse of the worker and abuse in the work environment will also be introduced. |
