Description | This course uses the procedures for residential real estate transactions as a framework for examining the legal regulation of land ownership in Ontario. Students learn about the range of pertinent legal interests including Indigenous perspectives on land rights and how legal tools such as contracts protect these interests. Financial aspects such as mortgage financing and taxation are also covered. Students use industry-standard software (Teraview and Unity) to simulate land transfers, including the necessary client correspondence, record searches and boilerplate documentation. |
