Since I graduated in December 2021, I began my job search journey a month earlier. In the beginning of December, I began to send out my application to jobs to explore the possibilities to land an interview. Throughout that time, I practiced my interview skills.  After several applications, I luckily landed several interviews with Bell, Deloitte, Accenture, from which I received job offers from Deloitte and Accenture.

The biggest thing for students like us to understand is to try and utilize the resources that are available from our Career Services department.  Besides that, it is the best to know about the companies that we are applying to from a unique perspective, such as their core values, latest news regarding that company or company events. In addition, you need to expose yourself to the industry as early as possible. It can be through related school projects, company competitions or co-op work experiences.

As an international student, a lot of students come to Canada to further their career development. Therefore, I would recommend you to understand the difference between Canada and your home country’s workplace environment. Besides that, I advise you to not be afraid to express your thoughts, whether in school or in workplaces
