Centennial College's Password Complexity Requirements

Passwords for Centennial College Network accounts and my.Centennial accounts must contain the following:

  • A minimum length of 10 characters
  • At least one upper and one lower case letter (a-z and A-Z)
  • At least one number (0-9)
  • At least one special character (#*/?$!@), excluding the brackets
  • By default, passwords expire every 120 days. After this time, you will be prompted to reset your password upon login.

Forgotten Password?

If you’ve forgotten the password that you use to log in to computers on campus, the following instructions should help you.

These instructions assume that you know your 9-digit student ID (also known as your student number), you have access to your My Centennial email address (where you will receive the password reset link) and you have another internet enabled device (a cell phone would work).

Self-Service Password Reset Instructions

1. Navigate to https://netid.cencol.ca using any internet connected device (like your cell phone)

2. Click Reset Password

3. Fill in your student ID/student number and the captcha code

4. Select your MyCentennial email and wait for the verification code

5. After verifying your email, you should be able to create a new password. With this new password and your student ID/student number as your user name, you should be able to log in to College computers.

How to change your Network Account Password-While on Campus (for Windows devices)

  1. Log into any college computer that is connected to the College Network with an ethernet cable (Cannot be completed using a wireless connection).
  2. Once Windows loads to the Desktop, press the "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" keys on the keyboard at the same time.
  3. On the screen that appears, select the "Change a password" option.
  4. On the next screen, do the following:
  5. Do not change the "Username" field.
  6. Enter your current password in the "Old password" field.
  7. Enter a new password, following the complexity requirements outlined in the password policy.
  8. Enter the same new password in the "Confirm password" field.
  9. If the new password is accepted by the system, you will receive a message saying, "Your password has been changed." Click the “OK” button to return to the desktop.

How to change your Network ID Password-While on Campus (for Apple devices)

Perform this change while connected to the network at Centennial College.

  1. Click on the "Apple" logo in the top left corner and select "System Preferences."
  2. Click "Users & Groups."
  3. Make sure your login ID is the account selected and click "Change Password."
  4. When you are presented with the "Change Password" screen, enter your old password (the password you used to login) then the new password, matching the complexity requirements outlined in the password policy, then click the "Change Password" button. The reset is now complete. Depending on the version of OS you are using, you may or may not receive an immediate change success notification.
  5. Log off and back in with the new password to test that the password was successfully changed.

How to change your myCentennial Password

  1. Login to your my.Centennial account
  2. Click on the home tab, under the My Account Management section, choose “Update Your Password”.
  3. Enter a new password following the criteria and confirm the new password.
  4. Click Reset Password. Enter your desired password, following the complexity requirements outlined in the password policy.
