The Lifestyle Media - Content Creation program is a one-of-a-kind graduate certificate offering designed to train specialized media professionals and content creators who are at the hub of lifestyle media.
In this program, you'll effectively gain the tools necessary to create content in all facets of lifestyle media, including digital media, web, social media and traditional media platforms. You'll also gain the skills to work entrepreneurially using contemporary digital media platforms and technologies to market yourself as an independent brand.
Lifestyle Media – Content Creators are subject-matter experts who can take their passion and depth of knowledge to reach audiences who want to learn and be entertained. Successful lifestyle media content creators influence trends, are digital marketers and strategists, designers, social media content creators/managers, videographers and writers who excel at storytelling from all aspects of Lifestyle Media.
Program Highlights

The vibrant industries that produce consumer goods and services for this sector — as well as the media that communicate their messages — are increasingly specialized and targeted.
You will be prepared to find entry-level positions within the established lifestyle media industry as content creators covering subjects such as food, beauty, fashion, décor, architecture, entertaining, health, fitness, garden, family, relationships, personal finance, consumer technology and travel.
You can work toward a career as an expert for one or more niches of this vast media field — serving as a content creator and strategist, social and digital media content creator/manager, website creator/manager, designer, video content creator and producer and writer to serve existing multimedia productions and/or create new productions.

Academic Requirements
- Diploma or degree in any discipline
- We will consider applicants who have successfully completed partial post-secondary education (minimum two years) and have relevant experience.

Note:
Students who are accepted into the program will be invited to:
- Submit a resume and/or complete an intake questionnaire after receiving their offer
- Attend a mandatory Program Welcome Session* online, prior to program start up
- Complete an English language assessment upon registration. Students who test below the required COMM 170/171 English proficiency level will take the ENGL-700 Professional English Communications course or the pre-requisite English COMM course for ENGL-700 in the first semester.
*All new students must attend a session prior to their program start date.

Domestic Students
If you are applying through the Better Jobs Ontario Program, please apply at the Employment Training Centre (Progress Campus). The Better Jobs Ontario Program is a funding initiative for those who have been laid-off and are in need of training. For more information go to Better Jobs Ontario Program.
If you have previously attended a full-time program at Centennial College, you may be eligible for a Program Transfer. Visit Enrolment Services at any Campus for information.
All other applicants must apply online at Ontariocolleges.ca. A non-refundable application fee of $125 must accompany applications. The fee is payable online, by telephone, online banking, by mail, or in-person to Ontariocolleges.ca. For more information go to Ontariocolleges.ca Application Fees.

2. Submit Documents
Domestic Applicants
Current Ontario high school students and graduates from Ontario high schools: Notify your guidance counsellor that you have applied to college and your school will forward transcripts to Centennial College via Ontariocolleges.ca.
Graduates of college/university, or high school outside Ontario but within Canada: You are responsible for requesting that your educational institute sends any required documents and transcripts to Ontariocolleges.ca.
Domestic applicants who attended school outside of Canada: If you are submitting transcripts to meet admission requirements, you must have the transcripts assessed by an independent credential assessment agency such as World Education Services (WES) or International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS). 3. Confirm Your Offer of Admission
Offers of Admission are sent by mail to eligible applicants. When you receive your offer, you must login to your account at Ontariocolleges.ca and confirm before the Deadline to Confirm noted in your offer letter.
You may confirm only one college and one program offer at a time.
You must confirm your offer by the Deadline to Confirm noted in your Offer of Admission letter or your seat may be given to another applicant.
When you confirm your Offer of Admission at Centennial College you are given access to your personal myCentennial account where you can check your email, grades, register for courses, pay tuition fees, and see your class timetable.
4. Pay Fees
Centennial fees statements are sent by email to your personal email account and to your myCentennial email account. Fees statements are not mailed.
You must make a minimum payment by the Fees Deadline noted in your Fees Statement or your seat may be given to another applicant.

Your web-registration will not open if:
You have not submitted your minimum fee payment by the deadline

Minimum Recommended Hardware Specifications
- MacBook Pro (13- or 15-inch) (recent models up to three years old) with 16GB RAM
- External hard drive capable of sustained video editing (i.e. Thunderbolt or USB3, with a high-speed drive (7200rpm preferred) or SSD (solid state drive).
- Intel i5 processor or better, 8 GB ram or better, 16 GB is better.
- 256 GB or better flash memory storage
You will need regular access to a computer with an internet connection. High speed broadband access (LAN, Cable or DSL) with minimum 10mbps download speed is highly recommended. Some courses have more advanced system requirements.

Program Vocational Learning Outcomes describe what graduates of the program have demonstrated they can do with the knowledge and skills they have achieved during their studies. The outcomes are closely tied to the needs of the workplace. Through assessment (e.g., assignments and tests), students verify their ability to reliably perform these outcomes before graduating.
- Create a portfolio of work that positions an explicit identity or brand relevant to a specific market or media.
- Produce content that instructs, demonstrates and recommends lifestyle products, events or experiences in a compelling narrative manner.
- Research, source and select products and people to meet production goals.
- Compose, create, and select still or video images appropriate to a project goals.
- Utilize appropriate media layout, editing, publishing and analytic tools to create, distribute and measure lifestyle media content.
- Generate and curate lifestyle media narratives to suit diverse audience expectations and experiences.
- Produce new and repurpose existing media content across multiple media platforms that creates value from a marketing perspective for advertisers, personal brands and audience goals.
- Curate and explain narrative choices or judgments from lifestyle media trends and styles within the historical contexts of design and popular culture.
- Write and edit precise and effective copy as appropriate to the media, audience or project.
- Develop content and business strategy themes for media features or special issues across multiple platforms.

Faculty Bios
Rachel Naud
Rachel is the Lifestyle Media Program Coordinator. She graduated from Centennial College’s journalism program and has more than 20 years of experience in journalism and lifestyle media. She has been published in major magazines and newspapers nationwide, including Chatelaine, Postmedia, Today’s Parent, The Toronto Star, MoneySense and the National Post. She founded INBETWEEN magazine, a digital magazine geared to parents of teens — the only publication in Canada that targets this demographic. She is also a lifestyle expert and appears on morning shows across the country, including Breakfast Television, CTV Ottawa, CTV Winnipeg and more, where she talks about tips and trends for parents with teens. She teaches many classes in Lifestyle Media, including Global Lifestyle Media Landscape, Writing a Lifestyle Identity, Professional Practice, Storyworks and more.
Jodi Mercier
Jodi started her career in a newsroom more than 20 years ago. The exposure of fine-tuning a visual story under a strict deadline was the best place to hone her craft as a storyteller. Jodi went on to produce segments for sports, entertainment and reality shows, shaping her into a successful visual communicator in broadcast television. Canadian Idol, Entertainment Tonight Canada, MuchMusic and The Marilyn Denis Show are just some shows Jodi has shared her skills with. The key to Jodi's visual communicator edge is understanding what a story requires to inform and captivate an audience, no matter the subject. Jodi now shares her visual storytelling knowledge with Centennial College students in the lifestyle media graduate program. As always, Jodi continues to freelance in various media formats, from online digital series with the Globe & Mail to producing media tours for lifestyle experts nationwide. At the moment, Jodi is working alongside the CP24 newsroom, producing integrated content for CTV Bell Media.
Antonietta Mirabelli
Antonietta is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in brand promotion, marketing and communications, and reputation management. In August 2015, she joined Havergal College, an all-girls school in Toronto, and continues to serve as its Executive Director, Communications and Marketing. Before Havergal, she was Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Vice-President, Marketing and Communications, where she was responsible for strengthening the charity’s profile in Canada and abroad. A strong strategist and brand ambassador, Antonietta spent over 10 years at the Art Gallery of Ontario, working in publicity and media relations before becoming the Deputy Director, Communications where she played a leading role in the communication of the Frank Gehry expansion project and supported her fundraising colleagues in the Transformation AGO campaign. Antonietta is a longstanding member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and holds a BA in Creative Writing from York University and an Editing Certificate from George Brown College. Antonietta teaches The Business of Media and the Marketplace (LIME 701).
Antoinette Taranets
Antoinette is a sales and marketing professional with 7+ years of experience in the social media industry. With a background spanning digital and social media, she currently works as an Account Manager at Pinterest, supporting brands that advertise on the platform. She also is a Content Creator & Consultant, working with brands such as adidas, HelloFresh and The Bay. With a past in non-profit youth development, Antoinette values the ability to work with students and learn from them along the way.
Franziska Trilse
Franziska is a graphic designer and illustrator who brings unique creative ideas to life. She is known for illustrating interactive children’s ebooks, laying out magazine editorial stories, and creating visually engaging advertising campaigns for new start-ups. She has contributed to magazines on everything from cover design and interior page layout to creating graphics for social media, specializing in visual storytelling. Her research interests include linguistics and how the interactivity of digital devices creates new opportunities at the intersection of design, technology and language learning. When Franziska is not working on a new design project, she is probably out kayaking, painting or competing in pop culture trivia.
Jessica Freeman
Jessica is a strategic communicator with 25 years of leadership experience working in fast-paced, complex, diverse government, corporate, and non-profit environments.
Jessica has held senior communications roles within both the public and private sectors, where she led media relations, strategic communications, digital marketing, and design teams. She has taught media training for C-suite executives and has worked with prominent local, national and international media outlets to tell authentic stories and raise organizational public awareness. In previous roles, Jessica led the development of complex corporate communications plans and international, award-winning mass advertising campaigns.
As the Director of Communications and Stakeholder Relations for the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, Jessica is responsible for advancing key stakeholder relationships and overseeing all strategic communications activities to assist the College in performing its statutory mandate to regulate the immigration consulting profession in the public interest.
Jessica is a volunteer member of the Digital Media and Lifestyle Media Program Advisory Committee at Centennial College and was previously a member of the Corporate Communications & Public Relations Program Advisory Committee. Jessica frequently speaks about stakeholder relations, crisis communications, and media relations at industry events, universities, and colleges.
